Adams grew as the seventh 7-year-old within Castle Rock Colorado. At the beginning of 1990, she started professional dancing and acting with Colorado's Dinner Theatre and the Country Dinner Playhouse in Colorado. Later, in Minnesota, at a local theater, she was chosen to be a part of the mock documentary about beauty contests called Drop Dead Gorgeous. After her screen debut that was successful with the role of an annoying but pleasant contestant, Janet relocating from Minnesota to Los Angeles where she began an acting career professionally. Leigh's film career began in mid- 1940s, after she was signed by MGM. Her name was discovered by Norma Shearer. Leigh was a star in a variety of cult films over the decade that followed, including Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho (from 1960) and Living It Up (1954) which starred Martin Lewis.
